One-on-one

Goal

To identify the steps needed to achieve specific goals and anticipate obstacles that may arise along the way.

Description

Unlike forecasting, backcasting begins by defining a desired future or specific outcome and then works backward to identify the necessary strategies and actions to move from the present reality to that outcome. A well-defined future goal should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART), allowing for clear progress evaluation and alignment monitoring. Backcasting involves envisioning the future, examining the current context, identifying stable elements, exploring overlooked factors, and making strategic decisions. This process is iterative, requiring plan refinement and updates as new information arises or circumstances change.
