To work out users' expectations and potential contributions of various actors. To assess possible conflicts of interest and difficulties and to define clear roles and responsibilities.
At least one representative from each partner should take part in the workshop. Create a matrix with the names of the partners on the horizontal and horizontal and vertical axis. The horizontal axis can be labeled as “GIVE (donor)” and the vertical axis as ‘TAKE (recipient)’.
The expectation matrix is therefore also known as the give-and-take matrix.
At the beginning, each actor defines their main objective in the project and writes this in a horizontal line under their name.
Each actor fills in the intersections of the matrix that concern them as follows - TAKE: What do I want to get from each of the other of the other partners or what do I expect from them?
GIVE: What skills, expertise, services or contacts or contacts can I offer the other partners?
The first actor begins by presenting the desired TAKEs and proposed GIVEs. The other participants react to the extent to which the expectations can be met.
Then evaluate the matrix together: Which expectations are fulfilled? Which are not fulfilled? What contribution can be delivered even though it is not expected? Make sure together that no roles are disregarded. Define clear responsibilities and open expectations and derive specific follow-up tasks for all participants.
