Goal

To design innovative business models in rural areas.

Description

The Regional Circular Living Lab (RAIN) Business Model Concept is a tool designed to support businesses, projects, and initiatives in rural areas as they develop innovative business models. It focuses on circular economy principles, open innovation, and information and communication technologies (ICT). The RAIN concept integrates all key stakeholders by adopting the Living Lab approach.

The primary target group for RAIN includes individuals or organisations interested in creating sustainable business models in rural areas. It provides a step-by-step guide to developing sophisticated, tailored, and sustainable business models.

The RAIN concept integrates three layers:

  1. RAIN Core Elements: These capture the essential components of the business model.

  2. RAIN Principles: These are guidelines developed during the LIVERUR research project, which must be considered when designing each element of the business model.

  3. RAIN Real-Life Setting: This provides a framework to understand the project environment, identifying the factors that enable or limit the project scope.
