Goal

To provide a structured, iterative approach to problem-solving that ensures a deep understanding of the challenge and results in innovative, well-defined solutions.

Description

The Double Diamond method is a design process that helps teams solve complex problems through exploration and refinement. It’s divided into four key phases:

  1. Discover: Start by exploring and understanding the problem. Conduct research to gather insights from users, stakeholders, and the context. This phase is all about opening up and uncovering the challenges at hand.

  1. Define: Narrow down and focus on the key problem. Analyze the findings from the discovery phase to clearly define the problem statement. This sets the direction for the rest of the process, ensuring everyone is aligned on the challenge.

  1. Develop: Generate and explore potential solutions. Brainstorm, prototype, and iterate, testing various ideas and refining them based on feedback. This phase encourages creativity and experimentation to find the most effective solution.

  1. Deliver: Finalize and implement the chosen solution. Take into account practical considerations such as budget, resources, and time. Test the solution in real-world conditions, gather feedback, and make any necessary adjustments to ensure success.

By using the Double Diamond method, teams can tackle problems systematically, ensuring they truly understand the challenge and create solutions that are both innovative and practical.
