One-on-one

Goal

To help organisations structure and evaluate their activities by linking resources and actions (inputs and outputs) to short-term results (outcomes) and long-term societal effects (impact).

Description

The Input-Outout-Outcome-Impact method (I-O-O-I) maps the logical flow of a project or intervention across four levels.

  1. Inputs refer to the resources used (e.g., funding, staff).
  2. Outputs are the direct products or services delivered (e.g., workshops held).
  3. Outcomes capture the short- to mid-term changes resulting from the outputs (e.g., increased knowledge or behavior change).
  4. Impact reflects the long-term, broader societal or systemic changes achieved (e.g., improved public health). This method is commonly used in planning, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure clarity of objectives and alignment between activities and desired results.
